PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of facilitates and to make a fault hard to occur, by allowing a jointing machine body provided with a lead-in guide member over a tape roll to run freely. CONSTITUTION:When the rear end part of a precedent sheet bar 6 comes close to the rear end of a jointing unit 15, an upper clamp and electrode 21 is lowered to clamp it with a lower clamp and electrode 20. In this state, the jointing machine body 10 moves on a rail toward a finishing rolling mill group together with the precedent sheet bar 6. At this time, a trailing sheet bar 6' is rolled by a rough rolling mill group and the speed of work rolls is increased to allow the bar 6' to catch the jointing machine body 10. The trailing sheet bar 6' is then guided to a jointing unit 15' through the lead-in guide member 27 and when its front edge comes out of the jointing unit 15', the upper clamp and electrode 21' is lowered to clamp it with the lower clamp and electrode 20'. A jointing cylinder 17 is driven to move the jointing unit 15' and both sheet bars 6 and 6' are set at a specific interval; and a current is supplied from a power source 22 to perform flash butt welding. |
