A ball swivel joint comprises a stub which ends in a hemisphere with a larger diameter, the hemisphere being arranged in a socket and having a hemispherical recess which is in engagement with a hemispherical convex surface of a bearing retention element arranged in the socket or, alternatively, of integral design with the socket. The bearing retention element or, alternatively, a segment of the inner surface of the socket engaging with the circumferential surface of the hemisphere is elastically preloaded in a direction in which firm engagement of the various bearing surfaces in mutual contact is ensured and, among other things, this compensates for wear. The ball swivel joint according to the invention can transmit considerable forces within a wide angular range between the stub and a shaft or the like rigidly connected to the socket.
