The invention relates to a fibre-optic data transmission system with a fibre-optic primary line to interconnect communication nodes, where each communication node has at least one interface with an access connection. On each interface, a fibre-optic path (18) connected via an access link (19) to the primary data line (10) is provided, which path leads to a star point (20) to which a receiving transducer (31) and a transmitting transducer (32) are connected. A converter circuit (34) is used to convert between electric signals to be transmitted onto the primary line and optical signals received from the primary line. Furthermore, the reception of signals from the primary line effects a boosted re-transmission of these signals from the converter circuit onto the primary line. The primary line is a self-contained loop, as a result of which communication losses due to interference on an individual interface are prevented. <IMAGE>
