PURPOSE:To record/reproduce both sound and picture with simple constitution by A/D-converting a picture signal, converting the digital signal into a sound band signal of a tape recorder, recording the result together with the sound and reproducing the recording. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal from a picture detector 10 such as an image sensor 10 is converted into a digital by a binarization processing circuit 11, converted into a sound band signal of the tape recorder by a compression circuit 12 and stored tentatively in an image buffer circuit 13. The stored content is fed to a recording circuit 15 together with a sound signal via a microphone 17 and a sound amplifier circuit 18 via an encoding circuit 14, and the picture signal and the sound signal are recorded simultaneously on a recording medium 16. The signal is reproduced similarly and the sound and the picture are recorded/reproduced simultaneously with simple constitution.
