The invention relates to a motor vehicle seat which can be moved in the longitudinal direction in accordance with the preamble of Claim 1. The object of the invention is to improve a motor vehicle seat in such a way that, whilst dispensing with the reinforcement of the floor plate and with the lateral support of the central rail, the motor vehicle seat and the parts guiding it also withstand increased stresses due to rear collisions and the like without it being necessary to resort to stronger dimensioning of the individual parts. This object is achieved in this motor vehicle seat by arranging sliding elements on both sides of the seat part in its front region and connecting said elements to said seat part, one element of which being guided in a sliding fashion in the rail attached to the door sill and the other in the rail attached to the tunnel of the motor vehicle. It is advantageous that the sliding elements are connected to the seat part via support members.
