For the purpose of interrupting or relaxing a yarn sheet (24) running from a delivery point to a take-up point (23), a device (22), consisting of a roller pair with a rotating first roller (46) and a second roller (66) which can be pressed against the yarn sheet (24) and against the first roller (46), is provided. Both rollers (46, 66) can be rotated at least in the thread path direction. One of the two rollers (66) has a controllable drive of its own and one of the two rollers possesses a return stop. This achieves the advantage of drawing the clamped and held yarn sheet forward, if need be while maintaining the clamping pressure, from the delivery point, in order to effect, for instance, a new joint at the take-up point. <IMAGE>
