Fungicidal and insecticidal compositions useful particularly for treating wood comprise as essential ingredients: (a) at least one oil-soluble metal salt of an organic carboxylic acid having fungicidal properties; (b) at least one halopyridyl phosphate of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein R represents a halopyridyl group, Z represents oxygen or sulfur, and each R' is independently a C1-C8 alkoxy, amino or C1-C8 alkylamino group, and (c) at least one surfactant. The compositions described include non-aqueous concentrates, aqueous concentrates and dilute aqueous solutions for end use in the treatment of wood to provide same with fungicidal and insecticidal properties. Such compositions penetrate into both dry and green wood rather readily, and the result is wood which is resistant to fungi and insects. |
