The high-speed circuit breaker is provided with an electrodynamic contact system having contact supports (2, 4) which move relative to one another, one of which is supported in a contact holder (6), which is connected via a switching shaft (8) to a latching mechanism, by means of a contact shaft (10), such that it can rotate. According to the invention, the contact support (4) is provided in the region of its contact shaft (10) with two cam discs (12, 14) which are arranged eccentrically and are opposite one another and parallel, and whose ends facing the switching shaft (8) are in each case provided with a cam section. By means of this measure, it is intended that the contact spring force which is detrimental to high-speed automatic contact opening should no longer counteract the opening movement of the contact support (4) after a short opening movement and, if required, that a force component supporting the opening movement of the contact support (4) should come into effect. <IMAGE>
