Profiling of a flange in a sheet-metal profile in order to make it easier for self-tapping screws to be screwed in, as well as a device for this purpose and a method which can be used for this purpose

The profiling consists of impressions which are arranged distributed over the surface, and the regions between in each case adjacent compressions are constructed as convex projections which fall away towards the impressions. The device comprises a set consisting of two rollers which rotate about parallel axes, of which the one roller is constructed as a counter-holder roller having annular grooves in the roller jacket running parallel to one another, and the other roller is constructed as a die roller having die stamps which are arranged rotating in each case in the circumferential direction at a distance from one another, and are arranged in parallel planes whose distances from one another are equal to the distances between the annular grooves in the counter-holder roller. During stamping, the opening gap between the partial circle diameter of the die roller and the counter-holder surfaces on the counter-holder roller are set to be less by an amount than the sheet-metal thickness of the flange material which is to be profiled.
