PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of performing an appropriate printing action even with a smaller size but with a higher speed, by a method wherein, concurrently with he first one revolution of the first type carrier, a rack is rotated from an intermediate stop position to a reset position to engage with a cam for carrying. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate stop position is provided in an intermediate part of a return passage extending from an engagement-releasing position to the reset position for the rack 4, and the rack 4 and the cam 42 for carrying are maintained in unengaged conditions when the rack 4 is transferred from the engagement-releasing position to the intermediate stop position. Concurrently with the first one revolution of the first type carrier 10, the rack 4 is rotated from the intermediate stop position to the reset position to enaged with the cam 42 for carrying. By releasing the engagement between the cam 42 and the rack 4, the second type carrier 12 being carried is reset into its home position by a return spring 29. |
