In a bulb-planting machine, the bulbs are supplied to a planting band (3) having a delivery element (7) and a horizontally arranged feed device (15) separate from the latter. The feed device (15) is a conveyor band, the conveying speed of which can be controlled independently of the conveying speed of the delivery element (7). As a result of the separation of the delivery and metering functions, an especially careful filling of the scoops (4, 5) is possible, so that, for example where pregerminated potatoes are concerned, damage to shoots is prevented.
