A spring bellows is made up of diaphragm-like rings (2) and transition rings (1, 3). A long life in the case of backwards and forwards movement in the axial direction is guaranteed by the fact that the transition rings (1, 3) have a hyperbolic profile and by the fact that the radii of curvature merge continuously into the radius of curvature of the adjoining part of the respective diaphragm-like ring (2).
