A method for heating the baking space of a baking oven, in particular Stikken oven, by means of a circulated gaseous heating medium which is guided into the baking space in the form of jets which are directed to a greater or lesser extent, is, for the purpose of rendering uniform the heat effect on the product to be baked, characterised in that the jet direction and/or shape is constantly changed. This can take place with a baking oven, in which the opening, through which the heating medium is introduced into the baking space, has a constantly changing direction and/or shape. Most simply, this can be achieved by means of a constantly rotating guide body which is provided at the opening.
