A luminescence diode, which is luminous in two colours, for example red and green, is provided to be used in model railway operation maintained by an AC voltage for illuminating vehicles at the rear and at the front, or also for signals, a change-over switch being included in the power supply of the two individual diodes which are luminous in different colours, and a series resistor being included in the anode terminal of each of these two individual diodes. A diode of reverse polarity can be connected in each case in parallel with the two individual diodes in order to reduce their reverse voltage.
