PURPOSE:To facilitate fitting of an elongate large-width ink ribbon at the time of replacing, by a method wherein a reel fitted on one of a pair of take-up shaft is provided with a lead part having a predetermined length, and an engaging part provided at the tip of the lead part is engaged with the second engaging part provided at the starting end of an ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:The reel on a lower take-up shaft 10 for the ribbon 8 is provided with the lead part 8 having the engaging part 13, which lead part 12 has such a length that the engaging part 13 comes to a position above a type drum 6 where the ribbon 8 can be easily fitted. When replacing the ink ribbon, the ink ribbon 8 is taken out from a containing box, the reel thereof is fitted to an upper take-up shaft 9 for the ribbon 8, and the engaging part 8a provided at the starting end of the ribbon 8 is engaged with the engaging part 13 on a guide plate 6a. Accordingly, the ink ribbon 8 can be easily fitted by adhering it in parallel to the leading part 12. |
