PURPOSE:To spray water uniformly in a furnace top part without cooling the same concentrically in the stage of cooling the waste gases at the furnace top by changing over valves of water spray nozzles provided in the various positions in the circumferential direction of the furnace top periodically at specified intervals thereby spraying the water. CONSTITUTION:For example, 5 pieces of the above-described water spray nozzles 1-5 are used by each piece as shown in the figure in the following way: The water spraying time for one water spray nozzle is set at 2min and the nozzles 1-5 are so controlled as to be opened and controlled successively. In this case, the on-off solenoid valve of the nozzle 1 is opened to spray water for 2min and upon closing of this valve, the solenoid valve of the nozzle 2 is opened to spray water. Thereafter the solenoid valves are operated successively to spray water with the nozzle 1 after the spraying of water with the nozzle 5. As a result, the water can be sprayed uniformly on the layer top surface of the blast furnace; therefore, heating and evaporation are repeated only at the layer top surface and the down flow of water into the high temp. zone in the lower part of the furnace is prevented. The generation of gaseous H2 by the reaction of water gas is reduced considerably and the damage of the side wall and bottom bricks of the furnace is prevented. |
