This novel tubular steel support is used for supporting components, trench walls, and general supporting purposes. In contrast to conventional supports, which require a thread lock, a sliding ring with a chain and connecting pins, as well as holes in the upper tube, the conical ring - double cam - tubular steel support no longer has any additional parts which move and are thus expensive and susceptible to faults, and it also no longer requires any holes in the upper tube which thus retains its full load capability. This novel support can be welded automatically, can be hot galvanised or dip-painted in the ready-for-use condition and can be tightened and fixed in the operating position quicker than conventional supports. The upper tube has oval steel cams, in an opposite double row. (e.g. resistance pressure welding process). An expansion, which acts as a guide for the upper tube in the lower tube and prevents it falling out of the lower tube, is produced on the cam-free lower end of the upper tube, which is located in the lower tube. A drop-forged, double-spiral-shaped conical ring is welded onto the lower tube, its upper side and the lower side which is located in the lower tube being provided with oval notches for holding the steel cams of the upper tube during height adjustment of the support. |
