Method for producing a basic element for optical fibre cables, with which it is possible to produce this basic element in a single operation. For this purpose, optical fibres (2) are differently coloured in pairs and partly provided with additional marks. All the optical fibres are subsequently inserted into an initially open buffer (11) which is subsequently sealed to form a tube.
