In order to prevent, during the winter season, the formation of a relatively difficult-to-remove layer of ice on at least some of the windows of a road vehicle these window surfaces are protected by a detachably-self-adhering window cover consisting of a flexible material. The covering comprises a window covering for a road vehicle window, comprising an adhesive free flexible cover part having a major surface which is detachably self-adherent to glass, at least part of said cover part adjacent said major surface consisting of polyvinyl chloride containing 30 to 42% by weight of a softener comprising dioctylphalate, dodecylphthalate, dibutylphthalate or another phthalic acid derivative.
