<p>The instant invention is directed to a process for the production of an inorganic-organic foam composition comprising reacting an organic, nonionic hydrophilic polyisocyanate with an aqueous alkali metal silicate in the presence of a catalyst and a blowing agent, the improvement wherein said aqueous alkali metal silicate contains from 0.1 to 15% by weight, based on the weight of the aqueous alkali metal silicate, of a compound of the formula: wherein A is selected from the group consisting of N, P and S, wherein R, R', R" and R''' may be the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of allyl, vinyl, Cl to C17 alkyl or mono- or polyhydroxy substituted alkyl, C6 to C10 aryl or mono- or polyhydroxy substituted aryl, C7 to C22 aralkyl or mono- or polyhydroxy substituted aralkyl, and C7 to C22 alkaryl or mono- or polyhydroxy substituted alkaryl, wherein x is 0 when A is S, wherein x is 1 when A is N or P, and wherein B is selected from the group consisting of OH, halogen and OR'''' wherein R'''' represents a C1 to C12 alkyl, with the proviso that when A is S, B is not OR''''.</p> |
