The slide ring packing on the shaft of a centrifugal machine, e.g. a centrifugal pump, is arranged in a packing chamber of the machine casing of the centrifugal machine and has elastic bellows (8). The bellows (8) surround the shaft (1) which extends through the packing chamber (4), and by exerting axial pressure presses two packing rings (12, 15) against one another. The bellows (8) at their rotor-side end are secured close to the rotor and corotate therewith. At the other end (11) the bellows (8) carry one (12) of the two packing rings which bears on the other, stationary, packing ring (15). Employing a slide ring packing of this type prevents rotor of the centrifugal machine from being subjected to excessive heat. <IMAGE> |
