<p>1326509 Corrugating; making contacts PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41227/71 Headings B3A and B3E [Also in Division H2] A contact 3 for a socket 1, e.g. a circuit board edge connector, comprises a tag portion 11 e.g. for a wire wrapped connection, a contact portion 15, 17 for engaging the board, and a resilient centre portion 13 created by forming a zig-zag in the contact spring. The zig-zag is so formed by the use of two toothed tools (not shown) such that the area of a longitudinal section of the tag portion 11 taken over a length L<SP>1</SP> is equal to the area of the longitudinal section of at least one of the constitutent members of the zig-zag formed between adjacent peaks thereof, the distance L<SP>1</SP> being equal to the interpeak distance L (Fig. 2). The amplitude of the zig-zag, the thickness of the material and the width of the spring may vary along the length of the zig-zag. The spring may also be bifurcated.</p> |
