PURPOSE:To enable to effectively actuate the differential restricting action during its primary stage by a method wherein the spring force of friction plates assembled in a differential gear device and the thrust force generated in a gear mechanism are applied in the same direction. CONSTITUTION:The differential gear drive consists of a pinion 6 loosely fitted onto a pinion main shaft 5 and a side gear 3 spline-coupled to an axle shaft 1. The plates of a friction clutch 7 are alternately spline-coupled to a differential case 4 and to the side gear 3. A spring force S is generated in the friction clutch 7 by being urged with a spring 80. When the change of axle load occurs, the thrust force T is generated in the side gear 3. In this case, because the spring force S and the thrust force T act in the same direction, the effective differential interlocking action is actuated from the start of its primary stage. |
