PURPOSE:To produce a composite wire rod having Al coating of good quality safely with the small floor area of equipment, by coating Al powder on the wire rod by the use of a suspension of the Al powder thereafter subjecting the wire rod to heating, rolling and drawing. CONSTITUTION:A polished steel wire 1 is cleaned and activated with a cleaning device 12, whereafter the wire passes through a suspension tank 13. A suspension suspended with Al powder of <=325 meshes grain size with the addition of a small amt. of a slurry stabilizer is contained in the tank 13; therefore, the Al powder is coated on the surface of the wire 1. After the wire is heated in a heater 14, the wire is rolled with rolling rolls 15, whereby the Al is press-stuck on the surface of the wire 1. The wire is again heated in a heater 16 after the rolling and is then drawn with drawing dies 17, whereafter the drawn wire is coiled on a reel 18. |
