PURPOSE:To fully collect heat from exhaust gas and promptly release drain water, by providing a drain hole 10 to the bottom part of an exhaust gas muffler and arranging the bottom part of the exhaust gas muffler to a lower position than a catalytic converter and exhaust gas heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:At operation of an engine 1, heat of high temperature exhaust gas flowing out from a catalytic converter 4 is collected by cooling water in an exhaust gas heat exchanger 6, and the gas is cooled to low temperature while further cooled also in an exhaust gas muffler 9, then a large amount of drain water is generated in an exhaust gas passage B. This drain water is contained with acidity to corrode a pipe and generate resistance in an exhaust gas pipe line if the drain water remains in an exhaust gas piping system here a drain hole 10 in the bottom part of the muffler 9 is situated below the converter 4 and the exchanger 6, and the drain water is never accumulated in the converter 4 and the exchanger 6 and smoothly discharged from the hole 10. |
