PURPOSE:In a method of controlling a fuel pump for the fuel injector of an internal combustion engine, to keep the pressure of fuel high throughout the stoppage of the engine, by stopping supply of electricity to the fuel pump with prescribed time lag after stopping the engine. CONSTITUTION:The time t2 of stoppage of a fuel pump 16 is delayed from that t1 of stoppage of an engine by a prescribed time interval DELTAt so that the pressure of fuel in a fuel line is kept still high after the stoppage of the engine. As a result, the fuel is prevented from being vaporized during the stoppage of the engine, so that the restarting property of the engine is improved. |
