PURPOSE:To produce castings having stable surface structure under partial control of the temp. of a casting mold, by embedding temp. control members for the purpose of controlling the mold temp. in the casting mold near the wall surface of the cavities. CONSTITUTION:A cavity 2 for forming the thin-walled parts of a casting and a cavity 3 for forming the thick-walled parts are provided continuously in a casting mold 1 manufactured by a carbon dioxide method, and temp. control plates 5, 6 are embedded in the mold 1 near the wall surfaces of the cavities. Pipes 8, which are arranged in metallic plates 7 having high heat conductivity and in which fluid flows, are disposed in the plates 5, 6. The temps. in the surfaces of the plates 5, 6 are measured with temp. detecting elements, and the flow rates of the fluid flowing in the pipes 8 in the plates 5, 6 are controlled by solenoid valves operating cooperatively with the temp. detecting elements. |
