PURPOSE:To improve the lubricating performance of a carbon brush particularly at a high temperature with less frictional coefficient and less variation in timing by adding aluminum powder of specific particle diameter to graphite powder of specific ash content, further adding a binder to the mixture, mixing, pressure molding the mixture and then heat treating it at the specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:0.1-2.0wt% of aluminum powder havng particle diameter smaller than 100 mesh is added to graphite powder of main row material which contains at least less than 1.0wt% of ash content. The graphite powder, the aluminum powder and binder such as bisphenol a type epoxy resin or the like are mixed, and the mixture is pressure molded, for example, in the range of 1,000- 2,000kg/cm<2>, and heat treated in the range of 500-650 deg.C in the vicinity of the melting point of the aluminum under the atmosphere shielding oxygen. In this manner, a brush which has excellent lubricating performance even at a high temperature with less frictional coefficient and less variation in timing can be obtained. |
