PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a metallic cable for feeding and to prevent induction trouble, by transmitting a light signal for communication and another light signal for electric power through an optical fiber on wavelength multiplex basis. CONSTITUTION:Terminal devices 10 and 40 are connected mutually through repeating devices 20 and 30 fed by the light signal from the terminal device 10 and optical fibers 100-300 and also use light signals with wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 to perform two-way communication. A light signal with wavelength lambda0 from the optical supplier 14 for electric power of the terminal device 10 is sent to a photoelectric converter 26 for electric power through an optical demultiplexer and multiplexer 12, optical fiber 100, optical demultiplexer and multiplexer 21 in the repeating device 20, and optical demultiplexer 25, and repeating amplifiers 22 and 24 are operated by the electric power of the converter 26. The light signal for electric power demultiplexed by the demultiplexer 25 is sent to the repeating device 30 similarly. Signals for communication between the terminal devices 10 and 40 use the light signals with wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 and through the photoelectric converter, optical demultiplexer and multiplexer, and repeating amplifier of each terminal device, the communication is carried out as well- known art. |
