The prefabricated assembly for constructing door or window frames comprises a sill (1) containing two recesses (10) in its upper face. Two uprights (2,2a) have rectilinear upper edges (15) and suitably shaped lower edges (16) which locate into the recesses (10) in the sill. The lower face of the lintel (3) contains two slots (27) which receive the rectilinear upper edge (15) of the uprights. The sill, uprights and lintel are assembled together using an intermediate layer of motor.
