The arrester uses the kinetic energy of a bullet fired from a gun, to fire a rifle grenade. It comprises a tubular socket (1) fitting over the gun barrel at its open end (7), while a sliding driving rod (4) passes axially through its blind end (8) and has, inside the socket, a collar (5) forming a free piston, the latter extended by a distorting core (2) arresting the bullet. A compressible damping bush (6) is fitted between the collar and the blind end of the socket. The diameter of this bush can be less than that of the socket bore surrounding it.
