The intention is to improve the positioning of the film and printing plate to improve the register accuracy, in particular for multicolour printing, on a device for producing printing plates, in particular negative offset newspaper printing plates, which device has two exposure stations, a system for the positioning and fixing of the film and printing plates by positioning pins and negative pressure and an apparatus for transporting the printing plates between the exposure stations. In this case, printing plates of different formats are to be produced continuously in a simple manner from a printing plate roll and it is to be possible for the printing plates to be exposed on a device having at least two exposure stations, i.e. with multiple exposure, so that a considerable increase in the number of printing plates produced per hour can be achieved by the improved film positioning and thus quality. For this purpose, there are arranged successively in the direction of transport an apparatus for the fastening and unwinding of a printing plate roll, an aligning station, a printing plate coating apparatus, a cutting station operating by suspension, and exposure stations. Each exposure station has a pivoting frame, provided with at least two positioning pins arranged spaced apart, for fastening the film. The pivoting frame is arranged in the loading position obliquely at an angle of inclination to the vertical plane. It has an apparatus for suction fixing and is pivotable from the oblique position into a horizontal position with the film arranged downwards. It can be lowered onto the printing plate which is arranged below it and can be moved in cycles on a linear transfer apparatus, a lamp arranged above the pivoting frame being provided for the exposure.
