The process for preventing migration in the fixing of dye in the form of a dyeing liquor on textile material is preferably suitable for application in the dyeing of loose fibre. The process is to be embodied in such a way that, despite the application of the dyeing liquor in a large excess, a minimum add-on is obtained with mechanical means. This is achieved by wetting the textile material with dye in excess and then introducing it into a hydroextractor where the dye becomes applied completely uniformly to the textile material by centrifuging to the minimum liquor add-on level.
