The roller mill has two milling rollers, which are arranged close together to form a gap between them, and are driven in opposite directions at different rotational speeds, in order to mill the milling material fed to the gap. A drive apparatus for the milling rollers has a double-sided toothed belt (11) or a V-belt, which is trained about complementary belt pulleys (13,14) which are attached to the adjacent ends of the two milling rollers and have different diameters, so that the difference in rotational speed is produced, and the toothed belt (11) transmits the drive from one milling roller to the other. <IMAGE>
