The invention relates to an embossing press having two one-armed levers which are connected at one end via a joint and each have in the vicinity of their other end a cutout for a top and bottom die to be inserted in an interlocking manner. The underlying object of the invention is essentially to provide an embossing press of this type for embossing sheets of paper, plastic films, sheets of leather or other material with similar material properties, which press can be operated by hand without tools even by children in an ergonomically favourable manner and can be carried and used by anyone as a pocket-sized embossing press with cost-effective manufacture in a compact design. This object is achieved in conjunction with the features of the generic type, in that at least one retaining element (10) is arranged in the respective cutout (5, 5'), which retaining element can be removably coupled and uncoupled by hand to/from at least one counter-piece (13) arranged on the back (11, 12) of the top die (6, 7) and bottom die (8, 9), and in that the ends (2'', 3'') of the levers (2, 3) provided with the top die (6, 7) and bottom die (8, 9) can be pressed against one another by hand. <IMAGE>
