PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a chain tensioner device to reduce the installation space by forming a tensioner member and a pressing member for supporting the back of the tensioner member as an arm extended along a chain, and inclining the pressing member to be brought into contact with the back of the tensioner member by a spring. CONSTITUTION:A chain 2 is vertically disposed on the side of an engine body 1 to transmit the rotation of a crankshaft 3 mounted on the lower end to a pair of front and rear cam shafts 4 disposed on the upper side. A tensioner member 5 extended along the chain and a pressing member 6 for supporting the back of the tensioner member 5 are disposed outside the chain 2. In this case, the above respective members 5, 6 are provided with shafts 5a, 6a disposed on the longitudinal one side and other side of the chain 2 to be formed into an arm extended inwardly. Further, the member 6 is inclined inwardly by a spring 7 so that the forward end portion 6b is brought into contact with the back of the forward end portion 5b of the member 5. Thus, the member 5 can be always kept at a fixed pressing force in a compact structure. |
