The invention relates to a method for a telephone station with a message text which can be emitted when a call is received, where the message text comprises a number of message text parts which are allocated to individual digits (1-9). The message text parts are permanently stored in a voice memory (SP) and can be supplemented or amended by entering digits via the dialling unit (T). The object of the method is essentially to find a simple way to listen to and amend the message text parts. This is achieved in that, by dialling a digit between 1 and 9, the corresponding message text part can be listened to and amended following actuation of a telephone lock (Sch), by dialling the digit 0 the whole message text can be listened to, and by dialling the digit 1 and listening to the corresponding message text part the sequence of the remaining message text parts can be selected. <IMAGE>
