Detecting burrs on castings during grinding

During grinding the burr on castings, it is necessary to distinguish between grinding in the burr and grinding on the desired contour. Control of the grinding process is intended to remove the burr safely and economically, the aim being for the grinding machine to be only slightly susceptible to vibrations. In order to detect the desired contour, the vibrations or the grinding noise excited in the casting (23) during the grinding process is detected and evaluated for the purpose of controlling the feed of the grinding tool (1). This is performed by arranging an acceleration sensor (10) at the clamping point of the casting (23), processing the detected signals in an AC controller (A) and driving the controlled amplifier (9.1) at the feed drive (4). <IMAGE>
