Ice-skate with inbuilt lamp - switches battery power by contact in heel of skating boot

This ice hockey-style skate (4) has a built-in boot (41), which is connected to the blade (43) by supports (42). In between the supports is a light assembly (2). The purpose of the light is to give added enjoyment of the spectators at skating rinks. The light assembly is a spring-loaded cylinder containing a dry battery. The battery is connected to a filament lamp (22) via wires (27) and an on/off switch mounted inside the boot. The on/off switch is operated by the pressure of the skater's heel when it is inserted into the boot. Alternative versions of the skate are designed for speed skating and for roller skating.
