In this arrangement, taps (6, 7, 8) are provided in the stator winding (4), constructed as coil winding, between the coils and at least at one phase end of one or all phases (1, 2, 3) of the stator winding (4), which taps, conducted via a winding of at least one measuring transformer (12), are connected in such a manner that the voltages induced in the coils, which are caused by asymmetries, produce a value different from zero when added together in the measuring transformer (12) whereas the voltages caused by the basic machine field result in the value zero. The other winding (13) of the measuring transformer is connected to a display device and/or a monitoring device. As a result, the zero voltage system occurring due to the asymmetries in the phases, or the differences of the coil voltages of a phase which are in each case proportional to the asymmetry, can be detected. <IMAGE>
