The reservoir, in particular compressed-air reservoir for air brake systems of rail or road vehicles, has at least one cup-like reservoir part (1, 2) made of steel material, the rim of which is welded by means of an annular weld seam (7) to an essentially identical reservoir part or a closing plate. The reservoir part (1, 2) is produced from a circular disc of material which is converted to a cup-like rough shape by means of deep drawing and is then given its final shape by means of cold flow forming. In the case of a reservoir comprising two reservoir parts (1, 2) of essentially the same type, one reservoir part (2) is provided at the open end of its circumferential wall (6) with a drawn-in circumferential-wall portion (11) while the other reservoir part (1) ends with a chamfer. The weld seam (7) is situated in the annular groove thus formed between the two reservoir parts (1, 2). The drawn-in circumferential-wall portion (11) can be pierced at its deepest point within the reservoir by a groove (14) which promotes the draining away of condensed water. <IMAGE>
