For the space-saving storage of goods, especially for the parking of motor vehicles, there is a plurality of pallets (12) which receive these and are to be put down next to and behind one another in rows and which are to be moved from and to an entry and an exit station (16) on rails (13, 14) by means of wheels. At the same time, between the station and the row ends of the pallet standing places there is a runway (F) which is to be kept free of pallets (12) to be put down and which is equipped with rails (13, 14) extending in the manner of a criss-cross grid and with rail switches (15) present at their crossing points. In order to achieve an even more space-saving goods storage which can be controlled in a simpler way, the pallet standing places are also equipped with rails (13, 14) extending in the manner of a criss-cross grid and with rail switches (15), there being provided a passing aisle (A), extending transversely relative to the runway (F), for the simultaneous lateral displacement of all or a plurality of the pallets (12) by the amount of one row width. <IMAGE>
