A composite block made of concrete or concrete-like material and serving for laying on paths, floors, driveways and the like has a parallelogram shape, as seen in the top view. In a further embodiment, the composite block can have sides of equal length on the horizontal faces and be of rhombic shape, as seen in the top view. The acute angles between two sides amount to 60 DEG and the obtuse angles between two sides amount to 120 DEG .
