PURPOSE:To improve the detecting distance performance, by controlling on/off of a transmitter incorporated in an antenna element of an active type phased array radar, and gain of a receiver, in accordance with a radar mode. CONSTITUTION:To an antenna controller 9 and an antenna element 13, a transmitter controller 24 and a transmitter on/off control driver 25 are installed, respectively, and when a high PRE mode is selected by a controller 1, a radar computer 8 commands the transmitter controller 24 to operate a transmitter of said antenna element, turns on the driver 25, the transmitting output becomes maximum, become an equal distribution, and the maximum gain is obtained. In the same way, at the time of reception, the maximum gain is obtained. Subsequently, when an intermediate PRF mode is selected, the computer commands the controller 24 to control on/ off of the antenna element so that a low side lobe is obtained. Also, when the amplitude is formed in a tapered distribution by controlling an attenuator 20, the antenna side lobe in case of transmission and reception is dropped, and the detection probability of a detecting distance of an approaching target is improved. |
