PURPOSE:To prevent irregularity of the processing and to obtain the image having a sufficient density for a short period by heating a heat developable photosensitive element which contains a photosensitive element contg. a photosensitive silver halide, and a polymer contg. a specific vinylmonomer unit, and is mounted on a substrate body, in the presence of water and a base and/or a base precursor. CONSTITUTION:The heat developable photosensitive element has at least photosensitive silver halide and the polymer composed of a vinylmonomer having one or more of repeating units selected from -COOM group and or -SO3M group (wherein M is hydrogen atom or an alkaline metallic atom) on the substrate body. The prescribed heat developable photosensitive element is heated in the presence of water and the base and/or the base precursor, after or simultaneously image-wisely exposing it. Thus, as the heat developable photosensitive element can uniformly absorb a large amounts of water for short period, the element can be processed for the short period so as to give the uniform image having a high density. |
