PURPOSE:To prevent failure of image reduction, by forming a photosensitive layer on a dotted image formed on a silver salt material for making a printing plate, forming auxiliary dots, reducing these dots to desired size with a first reducing agent, reducing the initial dots to the size of the reduced auxiliary dots with a second reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer 4 made of a photodecomposable sensitive resin is formed on the gelating emulsion layer 2 of a photosensitive material having a dotted image of a blackened silver image. A white pigment has been added to the photosensitive layer 4 to make it different in hue from the dots 3, in an amt. unaffecting photosensitivity of the layer 4. The layer 4 is exposed from the side of the transparent base 1 of the material 10, and developed to dissolve only the exposed areas 5 of the layer 4 and form auxiliary white dots 7. The dots 7 are reduced with a first reducing agent to desired size by comparing them with the dots 3, and then, the dots 3 are reduced with a second reducing agent till they coincide with the dots 7, thus preventing failure of reduction. |
