1. Aqueous solution of a melamine-formaldehyde resin having a resin solids content of more than 60% by weight, containing a melamine-formaldehyde precondensate and, if appropriate, one ore more modifying agents, characterised in that the melamine : formaldehyde molar ratio is 1:(1.5 to 1.8) and the dilutability with water at 20 C is at least 1:2, the viscosity is at least 30 DIN seconds measured according to 4 DIN 53 211 at 20 C and the stability is at least 3 weeks, and the resin contains 5 to 20% by weight, relative to resin solids content, of a compound rich in hydroxyl groups, or several compounds rich in hydroxyl groups, belonging to the series comprising polyhydric alcohols, non-reducing sugars or low-molecular enzymatic degradation products of starch having a glucose content below 1% or hydrogenation products thereof. |
