The cytostatics contain alpha -cyanobenzylamine derivatives of the general formula <IMAGE> in which aryl denotes the phenyl radical or a phenyl radical substituted by halogen, nitro, sulphonic acid, carboxyl, aminocarbonyl, hydrazinocarbonyl or hydroxyl radicals or a phenyl radical substituted by alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, acylamino or alkyl groups which in each case contain 1 to 4 C atoms and R denotes hydrogen, an alkyl or cycloalkyl group having 1 to 6 C atoms, a carboxyalkyl radical having 2 to 10 C atoms, which is optionally substituted by a phenyl radical, or denotes the phenyl radical or a phenyl radical substituted as defined under aryl and R' denotes hydrogen, a lower alkyl group having 1 to 4 C atoms, or an aminocarbonyl group, in which R and R' cannot simultaneously be water and in which <IMAGE>, however, can also be the N-pyrrolidyl, piperidyl or morpholyl radical.
