PURPOSE:To give strength and corrosion resistance to a casting by cleaning the surface of a casting, covering it with a thin capsule of pure metal having similar melting point, reducing pressure in the capsule to bring the capsule and casting into close contact, and unifying them metallurgically by heating and pressurizing. CONSTITUTION:Scales are removed from the surface of a casting and cleaned by washing with water. Then, the casting is convered with a thin capsule made of pure metal that has melting point similar to the component of the casting, (or alloy) high in corrosion resistance, high in plastic workability and easy to obtain thin sheet. For instance, a capsule of pure Al, 0.5-0.05mm. thick is used for a casting of Al-Si alloy. Air in the capsule is removed, and the capsule and casting are brought into close contact. Then, it is heated and pressed at the specified temperature and pressure, and the capsule and casting are unified metallurigically. By this way, corrosion resistance of the casting can be improved. |
