An apparatus for stoking of straw into a furnace has a feeding channel 3 for straw bales. Below the feeding channel 3, a back-and-forth movable cutting slide 2 for cutting off slices of straw and moving same into a straw conveying channel 1 is situated, said conveying channel being connectable with said furnace. The cutting face 2 is situated with its direction of movement crosswise to the straw conveying channel 1 and is connected to a sideways opening 8 in same. The apparatus further comprises a conveying piston 47 being movable back-and- forth in the conveying channel 1 along the sideways opening. The straw portion transferred to the straw conveying channel 1 and conveyed therein may be imparted a cross section shape being suited for combustion and being independent of the dimensions of the cutting slide. <IMAGE>
